The SHU Soundoff was amazing!! The acts showcased last night really showed the amount of talent that students on"the hill " really possess. For those of you who didnt attend you really missed a treat. I want to give a very very special congratulations to the winner...
my, roommate, Ashley Mckoy. She sang an original piece entitled Me Myself and I, "not to be confused with the Beyonce song," she clarified before she began and also "Somewhere over the Rainbow". She blew the audience away and recieved a standing ovation. SHe will recieve free studio time to record a Demo! You Go Girl!
Other acts included that of Carmen Marotta, who sang two original pieces and the classic "Can you feel the love tonight," by Elton John. Carmen's act included vocal as well as piano performance. Good Job Carmen! A piece from Jekyll and Hyde was sang by Katie Meadows with accompaniment by Sara Canter. Latoya Serrano, sang 2 pieces, one of which was "If I aint got you," by Alicia Keyes. The Campus Band, Maybe Later delivered an awesome performance with three original pieces, great job guys. John Stewart displayed his vocal talents also with a couple of original ballads, accompannied by his guitar. In a nutshell the show was great, so much musical talent and all of the contestants deserve a round of applause (applause).
Like I said before, those of you who missed the show missed something great. But its cool, you have a chance to revive yourselves next year at the SHU Soundoff. Come on Down and Support your friends or create it act. Its a great oppurtunity for aspiring musicians.
A special thanks to the featured band "The Space Pimps"and the lead singer, who hosted the show. They also delivered a fantastic performance.
