United Press International - NewsTrack - Most get news from broadcastersGeneration Xers are most likely to get their news several times a week or daily from local broadcast stations (69 percent) or online sources (68 percent).
So Gen Xers are nearly as likely to get their news online as to get it from local TV. That's good, in my opinion. The story lead actually emphasized a very different finding: "Seventy-seven percent of U.S. adults watch local broadcast news, while 71 percent watch network news, compared to 18 percent who read a national newspaper."
Of course, those who get their news online may be reading a newspaper website, or the local TV station's site, or a random blog. A brief summary of a poll is really not terribly useful, but it does give something worth thinking about.

I like online news, as well, particularly because I like to browse through the news in French. It's interesting to get a different cultural perspective on world events (and it's excellent language practice, too).
I spend a majority of my day in front of the computer screen. This makes it hard to take time away from what I am doing in order to run down to the cafeteria and grab a newspaper before they all run out. I also lack cabel in my room, so watching the news is not an option while I am at SHU. I prefer to look online at the news (local and world) becausee its free, easy and fits better with my daily schedule. The sites that I look at are generally from newspapers or news stations like CNN.
