Music Journalism internship - unique opportunity

Position Description:
91.3fm WYEP, an independent, eclectic, community-based public radio music station on Pittsburgh’s South Side, seeks three (3) Music Journalism and Audio Production interns for a special journalism project January through April of 2008.
These interns will assist in gathering and creating content for WYEP’s Pittsburgh Performance Project, WYEP’s contribution to the Pittsburgh 250 anniversary celebration.
WYEP’s Pittsburgh Performance Project will tell the stories of legendary Pittsburgh performance venues of the past and present through the creation of audio profiles for broadcast and an interactive display. Each internship has flexible hours and a small stipend, and may be completed for academic credit.
Duties and responsibilities include:
--Researching story ideas and tracking down sources independently
--Learning how to use portable recording equipment to gather sound and conduct interviews
--Learning and practicing audio editing with Adobe Audition
--Preparing programming for on-air purposes
--Administrative tasks such as aiding in station events on- and off-site; database entry, music cataloging, phone reception, etc.
--Additional duties and responsibilities related to the operations of WYEP
Candidates with their own transportation are preferred, though not required.
