April 2007 Archives

This Friday, April 20th, is the opening of my senior solo art exhibit at Harlan Gallery at Seton Hill. Each art student has to hold a senior art show, and I was lucky enough to be granted my own solo exhibit in the back gallery.

The title of my show is "Stages: Politics, Theater, Design." and will feature a design work that I have done in the realm of theatrical promotion (ie "Dodge Intrepid' materials, Cellar Dweller show posters, and video production) alongside political campaign work. My hope is that people will examine the principles and techniques I use in both of these fields in order to draw the two together. This isn't a show attacking politics, or aiming for controversy, but rather one that will hopefully show people that the political campaigns have the same sorts of storylines, characters and performances as theater.

The opening reception for "Stages" is Friday, April 20th from 7-9PM. The show itself will be running through Monday, April 23rd.

I received a link to this information and figured it might be of common interest, especially for NMJ students. They're looking for speakers (solo or groups) who are interested in blogging, podcasting, graphic design, and other topics, so this would be a great chance to network and find out what others are doing with new media in the here and now.

The Goreletter: ARNZEN NEWS Archives

The Horror Channel has just posted a video interview with me, shortly after I stepped off the stage at the 2006 Bram Stoker Awards in Newark last June.

It's a short interview. Arnzen was probably bursting with a well-earned pride in his own accomplishments, yet he gets a ton of "thank yous" in.

No break in this spring break

Braddock Hills resident and Seton Hill senior Tiffany Brattaina helped replace some windows and part of a roof and put up a water barrier around a former tobacco farmer's house.

The English literature and education major said the days were long but productive. They were up at 6:30 a.m., had devotions at 7:15, ate a quick breakfast and were off to their work sites between 7:30 and 8 a.m. They were housed at the Baptist Institute's Camp Andrew Jackson.

Each student paid $125 to cover the costs of room and board.

Ms. Brattaina learned that some of the residents of these rural Appalachian Mountain communities rarely stray from their homes.
