I am the wedding singer for my cousin's soiree in April, or is it May. Anyway, I am thinking about doing Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up" in a slightly higher key. Any thoughts on this song? Is the text right for a wedding?
Any other suggestions? I am an alto, if that helps.

You're back to your blogging-fiend self, I see. (I've been accused of being an over-commenter *gasp!* I'll just start posting more, I suppose.

Posted by: Amanda at January 21, 2004 2:20 PMHey, that's a great song choice Amanda, but the end gets so repetitive...you should improv a little bit I think...that would be fun, don't you think? Yay for the personalized wedding song.
Posted by: Jess P at January 21, 2004 8:14 PMI agree about the repetitiveness. I have been trying out a little soul on the end. She has me singing other songs too. I think I am going to be doing 5 or 6. You may not hear me talking toward the end of the semester...just a bunch of expressionable grunts. I think a lot of people will benefit from this. MAYBE Paul will even get some ego back.
Posted by: Amanda at January 21, 2004 11:19 PMlol. I just realized that isn't the Clay Aiken song. Good thing! ;)
Posted by: Julie at January 21, 2004 11:33 PMI think we are the only two people in the U.S. that hate him.
Posted by: Amanda at January 22, 2004 1:23 PMHEY! I'm the cousin! So suprised that I made your blog!!! :) I may have to check back more often! ;) PERSONALLY, I like the song and the lyrics, although I did not listen to the song in its entirety. If it drags on, well, we can improvise! :)
I don't know if this is an appropriate place to tell you about this... But I was thinking of these songs: (Since you didn't show up at Grand-mools on Sunday)
Parents Prayer – Stephen Curtis Chapman
I am Your Angel – Celine Deon ?????? Maybe not for the ceremony
Love Will Be our Home – Stephen Curtis Chapman
Faithful Friend – Stephen Curtis Chapman
I Will Be Here - Stephen Curtis Chapman
No Greater Gift – no piano with Amanda & Desiree
You Raise Me Up – Josh Groban
So what do you think??? And do you have any other ideas, Miss Music Extraordinaire??? I'm open for suggestions!
And thank you all for your contributions as well. :) If you all need anything shoot me an email!

Posted by: Amy at January 22, 2004 6:38 PMSorry I didn't come up to grandmool's. Homework and acute sleep deprivation called. We will get those songs in the works though. I like all of the songs (I know) and the artists you picked. I am sure everything will be okay on the musical end of things. You just worry about Everything Else.
