Requited

A bunch of balled-up lace
Sits on the sill
Waiting to be freed
By the next soft breeze.

A solitary fly inches closer to the flicker
warmed by the soft glow.
Too close.
Seared to wax,
Wings incinerating.

Peering into the inky spanse
For headlights
She waits,
All night and none.

No screen.
She inches farther out,
Closer and then--

Fly.
Until she touches it.
Blackened green.
Her nightgown is sodden with rouged dew.
Until she touches It.
Blaring light.

*A non-autobiographical poem. Don't worry about me.*

Peter Pan images, my dear. I like it. Watch the tenses--I can't tell if it just happened, or if I'm watching it happen. Nice images :^)

Thanks--I think I am going to go back and change them :-) You know what 1 a.m. writing can do. :-D

Don't worry Amanda I already called the institution...you'll be safe soon I promise...I mean...What? Crap.

I dig the poem. I think it has inspired me to write some of my own which I have not been doing for the past..oh...5 months! Crap(again).

Awesome my dear! I love the images, but like Karissa I wasn't sure if I was watching it happen or hearing it like a story...Loved it though

I have decided to leave the tenses "as is". I suppose it is a weakness, but I need to get used to imperfection. Writing is never completed, right?

Thanks Stephan for the laugh. I am glad to have inspired someone with my ramblings. Don't feel badly about not writing. After all, you had to have Havey fun, do schoolwork (in the two hours before class), and sleep (whatever that is). We were all busy. That's okay. Take in those Maine sunrises now--write about them. I want to read them, if not see them for myself someday.

I wrote the little disclaimer primarily for my familial audience: cousins, grandmas, aunts and uncles, primarily. Without it, they may tell my parents that I am suicidal or something. Just trying to cover all my bases.

"I wrote the little disclaimer primarily for my familial audience: cousins, grandmas, aunts and uncles, primarily."

2 "primarily"s in the same sentence? At 5:17pm? Amanda...

(Just kidding!!! You know I'm an insanely obsessive perfectonist, or at least you ought to have that figured out by now.)

Whoops. I was at work. I tend to get distracted by those pesky library patrons.
