The Altered American Dream

Some say the life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness can define and measure what the American Dream is. Others beleive that the American Dream can only be measured through the appraised value of your house, what kind of car you drive, and what you own in stocks and bonds. Unfortunatley for the American civilization and culture the majority of Americans prefer the standards of the second given measurement of the American Dream. It has gotten to the point as to where society is being force fed through the media what to think in terms of what is good, what is bad, what is right, and what is wrong. Because of the way things are portrayed in the media the definition of the American Dream has been drastically altered.
The media uses print as and television as its most prominent outlets. The media uses the trend of popular culture to support it's claims. Television depicts health, and wealth to define the American Dream by displaying the things that one can do with money and absolute power. For example one could look at any given issue of PEOPLE's magazine and see Sharon Stone on the front cover at the Grammy's with a dress on that cost thousands of dollars, jewelry dripping from her bones, and her possibly holding a bottle of champagne that cost more than Six Pack Joe's life. Absolute money and power, is what gives Sharon that million dollar smile.
But what the media doesnt show us is...........
