How long should the writing sample be?
Posted by: Jenna at March 26, 2007 5:10 PMThat really depends on the job, and what kinds of writing will help you make your case that you're the right person to hire.
I'm sorry I can't be any more precise than that, but I do have office hours tomorrow and I'd be happy to answer specific questions over e-mail.
Posted by: Dennis G. Jerz at March 26, 2007 8:26 PMAre we supposed to use the same job ad we used in Exercise 2-1a? Are we allowed to?
Posted by: Matt Henderson at March 26, 2007 8:34 PMYou are welcome to choose a different job ad if you've found a better one, but it's not necessary to get a different one. I assumed that most people would just use the same job ad. Including it in this submission will just help me do a better job evaluating the appropriateness of your application materials. But you're welcome to replace that job ad with a newer one if you think it would be more useful to you.
Posted by: Dennis G. Jerz at March 26, 2007 10:31 PMFor Ex 2-1a, we didn't need to include the URL. I tried to find the ad again so that I could copy and paste the URL in this exercise, but I can't find it. I think the ad may have been taken down. Do I need to find a new job ad so that I can include the URL, or can I just leave it as is?
Posted by: Jennifer Prex at March 27, 2007 6:50 PMSince the assignment is due tomorrow, I'll let you continue with what you've got. You do still have the text of the ad, right? I should be able to give you some useful feedback based on that.
Posted by: Dennis G. Jerz at March 27, 2007 6:52 PMYes, I do still have the text of the ad. Thank you.
