Does anyone happen to know if this book is in the bookstore yet? I completely forgot about it.
I seem to recall someone showing me a free online version of the book, but I don't remember where...
Posted by: ChrisU at September 17, 2005 07:57 PMRegardless of whether it's in the bookstore, it is available as a digital download for about $10 from Amazon, among other sources. There are also dozens of used copies for sale.
I'm not aware of a free online version of this.
I do know that Gillmor's We the Media is available online for free, as is one of the EL200 texts.
Yeah, I found one of the "digital download" sites, so I'll probably just end up purchasing it from there. Thanks, Dr. Jerz.
Posted by: ChrisU at September 17, 2005 08:46 PMWow... This text is amazing. In the three chapters assigned, the authors already addressed some of my own biggest concerns about being a journalist -- particularly, concerns about expressing personal opinions to the public.
I especially loved the passage about the journalism professor whose students have managed to prevent innocent people from being executed -- it really demonstrates the raw power of investigation.
Posted by: ChrisU at September 19, 2005 12:20 AMWell, Chris, it looks like at least you and I will have a nice conversation during class.
