Aaseth's editorial made some good arguments for the study of video games as a serious research related field. Though I did feel that his use of language was not very user friendly. A quote that stuck out to me was.

"Today we have the possibility to build a new field. We have a billion dollar industry with almost no basic research."

I suppose that if you can't motivate people to go out there and start studying games, telling them that it will bring them money might get them up off the couch.

This field is an up and coming success. Gaming has become so popular in society that I don't understand how a person who loves gaming wouldn't want to get out there and create their own while earning the big money. Everyday new research is being preposed in the gaming field which is helping the gaming world open its doors to new opportunties that will bring more people into the field within the next 5 to 10 years.
