"Of, mixed ancestry, I felt from earliest childhood that America was the only home I could ever call my own."

I understand what he is saying. He wants his "own" country. However, I find it strange that he wants his "own." I do not understand why he isn't more linked to his other ancestors.


I am also amazed that being a pediatrician and an obstetrician, he had time to write poetry, novels, books, plays, essays, etc. Especially when it stated that he delivered over 2,000 babies. That is real dedication there.
