Ex 4
Dr. Jerz, do we really have to have an entire narrated slideshow for this exercise? I have photos I've been using, but I don't really have any sounds that go with them... And I've been busy enough trying to get the photos to load correctly. Not to mention, I haven't really had time to work on this exercise with a partner as you asked me to do--the other Flash lessons, the work on the project, and work elsewhere have kept me busy enough already.
I'm a little worried about how quickly the work is piling up, right now. I don't mind going through the Flash lessons for homework, but when I'm asked to do a larger exercise such as this with someone else, it becomes very hard to manage--especially when the work can only be done in our classroom, which always seems to have a class in it whenever I try to get in to work on this stuff. Trying to schedule around someone else's schedule, and the classes scheduled in the room, is a bit much for a commuter who has to work almost every evening just to be able to afford to take the class.
Sorry... I guess I'm just a little frustrated at the moment. But I wouldn't bring up concerns if I thought I was wasting my time--I know you'll do what you can to help me work this out, somehow.
Posted by: ChrisU at October 26, 2006 11:31 AMChris, I did leave this assignment open to "something else that we agree upon in advance," so I did have some flexibility built into the assignment.
It is possible to download a trial version of Flash for home use. (I've been doing that as I work through the homework chapters on my laptop at home.)
Thanks for bringing up your concerns. Have you considered trading files by e-mail, or using class time to coordinate the activities that you will later complete on your own? One reason I delayed the Project 1 deadline was because I was aware of the workload issues, but working successfully in small teams is a vital skill in new media.
