Glaspell, ''Trifles'' -- Jerz: EL150 (Intro to Literary Study)
My reflection with link to Chera Pupi's blog entry
“Trifles” by Susan Glaspell is a very interesting play. I never had read this play before, but was bewildered with a few of the facts. The first idea was that the women really knew more about the case than the detectives (the men). I believe that is because of the time period. After reading Chera Pupi’s blog entry, I understood a few of the facts with ease. The first idea of women not knowing a lot really did not come across my mind while reading. After reading some passages over and reading Chera’s entry, I noticed that this was the case. Another important idea that I never thought of was the irony at the end of the play. Chera quoted within her blog, “Mrs. Hale saying, “Knot it...” The rope was knotted around Mr. Wright’s neck, and they’re KNOT telling that they know why! I am glad that she posted that comment because it is true. I never thought of it as there not telling any information. Overall, I believe that re-reading some information within the play and reading Chera’s blog entry that I have a better understanding of the play.

Well I'm glad that my entry cleared some things up for you. As I noted in my entry, I have read this before and didn't pick up on things then. Re-reading really helps though, especially if it's been a while since you last read it.
