Lemire (skim Ch 2-7) -- Jerz: EL150 (Intro to Literary Study)
Reflection Paper
Lemire presents many good ideas about teaching and becoming a teacher. I found it interesting that many students commented on the section about you don’t have to like children in order to be a good teacher. I think that it partially true, but noticed a connection after reading Jenna Miller’s blog entry. She noticed the same observation that I did, but stated, “You can teach the children and not like them, but in order to help them learn you should have an interest.” I think that this is an important statement because it tells how some teachers can make a big difference in a child’s life. The reason why I chose this blog entry is because it has made me change my opinion on that statement. I think that a teacher needs to have interest in the students learning in order to be a good teacher. If a teacher does not like children then it may be difficult for the students to learn the material.
