So, English Teacher, huh? Good luck with that.

After deciding to major in English, I always thought I was lucky because I was one of those few students who for some strange reason felt compelled to teach High School English. This desire may have possibly resulted from the fact that I have two teachers for parents, but, at least I felt comforted by the thought that, at last, I knew what I wanted to do with my life. If I had chosen a major such as Marketing, like my sister, I probably wouldn't recieve sarcastic wishes of good luck from my relatives at every family gathering after I remind them of my major. It is refreshing to have a little support from Lemire in a society that often times considers English a dying major. Lemire, I'm an English Major: Now What? Never Say Never

A word of warning: if I sometimes speak here and in the chapters to come as if a certain statements is always true, a certain condition always obtains, I apologize. 'Always' and 'never' are not words that have much meaning in literary study.

Sympathy for the Devil

I tell you, it's queer, Mrs. Peters. We live close together and we live far apart. We all go through the same things--it's all just a different kind of the same thing.

I would rather be a crab...

I should have been a pair of ragged claws Scuttling across the floors of silent seas.
