Lindsay-Abaire, Fuddy Meers -- Drama as Literature (EL 250)
I read this book over the summer and I thought that it was a silly, funny play. I could not take anything that the charcters said seriously because it just seemed so dysfunctional, but over the weekend I happened to walk into Reeves Theater and I hear screaming in on of the rooms. I walked in and saw students practicing for a show so I sat down. It did not take me long to realize that I was watching "Fuddy Meers"! It was so much better than the book. I know that I said that about many books, but this one I really mean. It was not as hard to follow along when Gertie speaks because you can see what is happening around you. It was a funny book and amusing to read.
What scene did you watch? What should we look for when we see the show ourselves? I'm curious!
