Full of Bitter, already?

Uncle Tom's Cabin

"Eliza, my heart's full of bitterness. I can't trust in heaven." (78)

I think this says a lot about George.  He has something go wrong and now he is full of bitter and cannot trust God now.  It may be bad but he is going way off and very negative.  This is earlier in the dialogue so I think that this shows that he is very negative.

I agree that this does show that he can be very negative, but considering his situation, I think it would be natural for him to be. When it comes down to it, the most unnatural character in that sense is Uncle Tom, because he is not bitter but instead has a very positive outlook despite everything. This does not mean that either one was off base in how they handled their situations, it is just how each character did.
