I'd rather watch the movie

Who here can say that when they read a book they don't fully understand it? I can!

Unless the book captures my interest early on, then I don't get motivated enough to finish reading it. That is what happened when I read "The Great Gatsby." I was reading the words but I wasn't getting it. The book caught my attention at the end when some action started happening. I would much rather watch the movie. I can get more out of a movie than a book. Somebody has to agree with this, I know i'm not the only one who is like this.

Yes, I agree with you. Its hard to imagine the actual characters and the action, if there is no action to begin with. The book was alittle slow to get into, so it was hard to stay interested and brew up a good image. Watching a movie is much easier to get into, but then again it takes away from the purpose of reading and making up your own imagination of the story, which is soposed to be the fun part. Although, I am not a great fan of reading, but I do have a good imagination, but its hard to apply it with reading, I guess, haha.

I also think it would be wonderful to watch the movie. I seem to get a better understanding of things this way as to trying to sit down and read a book I really don't have an interst in.

Reading the book and watching the movie are two different things. Unfortunately, the book is usually better mainly due to the fact that the author was able to convey EXACTLY what he wanted to. In movies there are limiting factors, the main factor tends to be money, but whatever. Books convey thought--which is why some books are boring. Think about it, how many people could live in your head, hearing all your thoughts, and not get bored? I get bored in my own head, and I'm the one thinking it all! Also, in The Great Gatsby, the main character, Nick, was meant to seem boring and dull to further exaggerate Gatsby's "greatness". Compared to Nick's blandness, or course Gatsby is great!

This is just my opinion, but I prefer to read the book than watch the movie. Movies don't have the thoughts that characters express. *Shrug* But then again, I am a writer too, so I'm bias.
