There are jobs that do not require you to dress in tweed, drink chamomile tea, read Proust, and own a cat.
Lemire (skim Ch 2-7) -- Jerz: EL150 (Intro to Literary Study)
Whew! I'm glad that this is cleared up. First off, I'm more of a jeans and hoodie type of girl. Second, the only tea I'm willing to drink is a chai tea latte. Thirdly, I've never even heard of Proust until I read this quote. And lastly, I've never been a big cat person. That said, I'm all for abandoning any and all stereotypes. Sorry, couldn't resist (as Lemire kept saying).
That aside, I found Chapter 6: Books (As Opposed to Literature) to be helpful as well. It, once again, hit on areas that I will be interested in pursuing sometime in the future...some things further in the future than others. It's good how Lemire covered all aspects of this industry and didn't try to sugar coat anything (pardon the cliche). It's better to know the straight facts when going into it than only having a watered down idea of what's coming.
