"Now, there are no laws against imprisoning apostrphes and making them look draft. Cruelty to punctuation is quite unlegistlated" (Truss 36).
Reading phrases like this and the relation to ciminal acts and punctuation is where I stop and find myself feeling that it is hard to take this seriously. Even if you look at the cover to this book there is a panda carrying a gun. Can you take that serious? Not me. I understand that a point was trying to be made, but I lose focusing on what the author is trying to get across and find myself saying this is rediculious.
"If this satanic of redundant apostrphes causes no little gasp of horror or quickening of the pulse, you should probably put down this book at once" (Truss 1).
Well, no "gasp of horror" came to me while reading so one whould proably say that I put down the book. Well, I didn't. See I think the fact that it didn't bother me is why I should keep reading. I am not one to become obsessed with my punctuation or anything when I write, but that is what I would like to change. I want to be able to recognize mistakes like that and improve my writing. So, I'm not going to put down the book. Instead I am going to keep reading.
I found this passage to be sad. Just to write a book and prove a point she was really isolated from the world. At least, her true identity was. I saddens me to think that there would be no one in her life that would miss her and that her name could be "unuttered" for this long period of time. I think in a way she was losing herself just to write a book, and she might have been okay with this idea but I know I could never go through that and to give up the life that I have.
In loco-parentis. This term pretty much sums up the quote that I picked out. In Foundations of Education this is one of the first concepts that students learn. When students arrive to your classroom you now take on the parent figure. You responsible to make decisions in the best interest for the child and also provide a safe environment for each child. In another part of this chapter that list all the many roles a teacher is. It is very important for future and current teachers to understand that being a teacher requires you to fulfill unlimited roles.

When I decided I wanted to become a teacher everyone told me how easy it was going to be. I always had to stand up for myself and let others know that teaching is NOT easy! Therefore, I thought this passage brought up a good point. Teaching is hard work and I do not like the stereotype that many people have put on the teaching profession. Especially since I want to teach elementary kids, people think that is even easier. You should go into the teaching profession because you have a passion for it. Like Micheal Sims stated it should be like a compass. There is just some magnetic force that attracts you to the career you want to have. That should be why you enter the teaching profession.
