"I am not suggesting a writer let it bleed so much as I am sugesting that he understand his motivation."
- from The Forest for the Trees by Betsy Lerner (or, as I call her, Janet)

The rules for this strangeness, found on Karissa's blog, via Jerz's.
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.

Thanks for the plug, Julie! Random acts of randomness never hurt anyone :^) Certainly not yours truly, anyway...

Why do you call Lerner "Janet"?

Posted by: Mike Arnzen at April 22, 2004 10:31 PM

I just can't think of her as a Betsy. Janet is a more fitting name, somehow...more mellow and organized than a Betsy. A "Betsy" seems like more a social worker name than an ex-editor.

The more plausible explanation for "Janet" is just that I'm a bit strange.

*meek smile* I think that's cute, if I can say so without appearing strange. Then again, I don't call someone Janet when that's not their name ;^o
