Don't miss another sunrise
In regard to my tweet last week...
So here's the back story: I work every other weekend at a retirement home. My shift starts at 6AM. It isn't easy to spend two weeks staying up until 2 or 3 in the morning and then adjusting my sleep schedule for one weekend. I'm usually tired and a little cranky.
Last weekend, I was exhausted and just wanted to be done with work because I had so many other things to do (including going to the Goo Goo Dolls concert, which, p.s., was amazing). Don't get me wrong, I like where I work. Just not at 6AM.
But then I looked out the window, and the sky was beautiful. It was iridescent—glowing purples and reds. I could not stop looking at it.
After a few stressful weeks of school and with an even more stressful week approaching, I was reminded to slow down and stop wishing away the days.
If you have to be up early, might as well enjoy the sunrise! =)
I've had many mornings where I was driving to a softball tournament at 5 in the morning and I know how you feel. I have some fantastic pitcures of the sunrise over the city of Pittsburgh from those drives! :)
I also work at a retirement home when I'm back in my hometown. I usually work first shift too, except mine starts at 5 am. It's rough. And I know what you mean with adjusting your sleep schedule so quickly- over fall break I worked two days, and it was absolutely exhausting. And then when I got back to school, just those two days threw my regular sleep schedule off. Yarg, fall break was no break.
What do you do at the retirement home? I work in the kitchen.
Beth Anne, Pittsburgh is beautiful during sunrises and sunsets! At least there are sunrises to look forward to when you have to wake up early.
Patrick, I can barely wake up for 6 am sometimes, I couldn't imagine 5! I worked over fall break too; it was sad. But I do housekeeping and laundry. I clean old people poop, which sounds gross because it pretty much is, but I'm used to it. I used to work in the kitchen when I was in high school though.
So true! Sometimes I have to remind myself that this is our senior year and I should not complain about how much work I have to do or count down the days until the the end of the semester.
