Home from Habitat

And we're baaaaack...
From Connecticut, that is.

We were originally supposed to spend today driving home, but upon hearing about the Winter Weater Advisory for most of the northeast, we hustled right out.

I'm thrilled, relieved, and glad to be back, but I did have a wonderful (!!!) time.

I'll post pictures when I have a chance--I'm at my house right now, so I don't have the USB cable to connect my camera; however, I'm certain that Amanda will have pics up before me :-) (You photobug, you!)

*Edit 3/13/05: Amanda's got her pics up! Here's a sneak at one of my favorites!

I kept a list of quotes for the trip, and we have some pretty interesting stuff :-) I'm not going to post all of them, but a few of my favorites are as follows:

Monica (spelling "go"): G - O ... joe!

Darren (about Scott's neon windpants): Let's just say that his package is well-wrapped...!

Scott (giving advice to the youth group kids): Life hasn't begun until a beluga whale has crapped in front of you.

Karissa (at the bowling alley): Who says bowling isn't a team sport?! There is no "I" in bowling... ... ... shh!

Cindy: This is the "whack" van. Everything is whack. Movies are whack, people are getting whacked, this CD is whack... everything behind the two front seats is whack... except Sue.

Ami (trying to keep Monica from using her cell phone): The only thing that would make me give in is a child. And you are not a child.
Monica: Well, I'll find one.
Ami: That wouldn't work because I'd know it was a trick!
Monica: Well, one day I'll bring forth a child from my belly... *collapses into laughter*

Yeah, things got pretty silly at times. But we grew closer and learned so much from each other and about each other.

Amanda and I had a fabulous time with powertools (yes, folks, powertools--we can't cook, but we can drill with the best of 'em!). I don't think any of us but Darren had any real experience with drywall, but I can now confidently say that I have walled a house. Mostly. Well, Amanda and I were darn good at doing the insides of windows!

I have inhaled more drywall (i.e. SheetRok, which is the brand-name and what the Connecticinnians (?) call it) than I ever thought humanly possible. I have screwed in thousands of screws. I have lost my sense of smell AND taste, and the ability to breathe out of my nose.

Presently, I am miserable. Gah, sinus colds suck. But at least I got my mom to call the doctor about it; now I've got prescription antibiotics for my illness, and hopefully I can breathe/smell/taste later today/this weekend.

I can't wait to see the rest of the quotes, I think one of my favorites was one that Carmen said, Carmen: We were already lost here, can't we get lost somewhere else?
I think that's how it went. You're the quote girl, you'll know if it's right or not.
Oh yeah, I have some questions about itunes for you. :)

Hahaha, I love that one, too! Glad that you've enjoyed my knack for keeping quotes, Sue! I think keeping a list of the things people say helps me to remember what a great time I've had... Maybe that's why I kept a year-long quote list last year for what my friends and I called "2004: The Year of Randomness." *shrug* Nonetheless, Habitat provided a great opportunity for me with TONS more than just quotes!
