Summer Imposter!

It's been uber busy in the typically semi-quiet world of Karissa. Not that I mind... it's just been a bit overwhelming, I suppose, because I'm technically not on summer break yet.

Sure, the weather has finally broken into the eighties and the impressive thunderstorm we witnessed today brought the season further into my consciousness, but I'm still pressing on with work and school.

(Read: I'm not asking for pity. I did this to myself and I know it. Summer's suicidal, I guess, but I'm not letting it die. I'm putting it into art therapy soon, FYI.)

I'm glad to have things to take my time because I get really bored really quickly (i.e. my blog's constant state of change). But I saved the world twice today. Long stories for both situations, but they involved work and a website and not catching the problem could've been detrimental to the whole project. *yikes!*

I did take a mini-excursion to Mike's this past weekend, which was sort of like a vacation from laundry and schoolwork. I forged my way on the infested interstate to and fro, only to get lost in Pittsburgh; but I made it out alive and had a fabulous time between my street stress.

Besides my travels, I don't have anything interesting to blog about. I did the news thing for a few posts, but I can't do that and call it my blog... Sort of like being an imposter, I suppose. I feel like that's fake-blogging. Reminds me of "fake 'n bake" tans... something even I, who may not see the sun till July, wouldn't even consider just because it's vain, a bit silly, and not entirely streak-proof. No one needs anyone to be streaking--not in any manner provided within definition of the word.

Hey, I guess that's a good analogy for my present state of summer: an imposter. My summer is feigning that it really is break time, but meanwhile I'm swallowed in the swarms of work and such. Oh sure, it's hot outside now, it's good and sunny, it's lighter traffic at 8 in the morning because the school buses aren't linking like sausage on the road, but it's not summer. Not for me. Not yet.

Maybe when my math class is over (in less than 20 days!) it'll feel more like summer... Or maybe I'll just stop thinking in numbers and saying "...that's because I'm in math class right now," when I say something semi-intelligent involving mathematics in the world. Yeah, I said that about 30 times this weekend. That's gotta stop.

Summertime divided by coursework times homework equals less summertime. Hope you get to take an intellectual holiday for metnal relief and creative renewal.

Thanks, Dr. A. I'm hoping that once my math course finishes and I'm through with my internship (both conclude at the end of June) that I'll be able to refresh with some well-deserved time off.

I don't think anyone is going to hire me for the 5 weeks that I'll be unemployed (since I'll move back on campus for RA training fairly early in August... actually, it's just after my birthday!), so I think I'm just going to take those 5 weeks and relax.

I know -exactly- what you mean.

Great entry on summer overworkers and overachievers everywhere. :)

Such an amazing Kiz.
