STOP: Thanks for stopping by! Today I'm not going to discuss a particular song but rather the musical phenomenon Glee. If you're not a fan I can practically see you rolling your eyes, but hear me out!
PLAY:
REWIND: I recently received the first season of Glee on DVD for my birthday, and I was pretty excited. My suitemates (who were not originally Glee fans) have been watching it every day since it arrived in the mail. I was a theatre/ choir/ band geek in high school. I performed in my high school show choir and in every musical my high school put on while I was there (Into the Woods, Wizard of Oz, and You're a Good Man Charlie Brown...if anyone was wondering). I always wished I could just burst into song and dance whenever the need struck me, but alas, it isn't exactly socially acceptable to do such things. I love Glee because as a show it realizes my dreams for a world where life was a musical. Sure the characters and situations are stereotypical and a bit unreal, but there is never a moment where I'm not enjoying myself and singing along (and sometimes dancing but only when I'm alone). Glee is pure creativity and enjoyment, and what's better than that? In my head, my life is a musical complete with a soundtrack. My entire blog is centered around this theme, and so is the show Glee!
Find out about Glee and even watch full episodes!
I have yet to watch Glee. Initially, I wasn't interested because I'm not a fan of musicals. I kept hearing that it's a good show. When I went to watch it on Hulu, it was almost through the first season, and I didn't feel like watching all of those episodes.
I know, I should have given it a chance. I even have some songs from Glee on my iTunes. Even if the situations are unreal, at least it's an enjoyable show! And there don't seem to be any other shows like it.
Yes it's definitely a struggle to get non- musical- lovers to watch Glee. One of my suitemates told me she didn't want to watch it because of all of the music, but once she watched she ended up loving it. It's too catchy to ignore!
