9-11... My 2 year anniversary...
In Lehman's poem about the World Trade Center he states that he never liked the building and that it was an fine axample of what is wrong with American archetecture... Then towards the end he states that overnight his opinion of the building changed. He began to appreciate that way that it looked when coming from certain directions...
I think that this poem shows what happens to many people when they overlook small things in their lives... "You never realize what you had until its gone..." kinda thought... When all was peaceful before the ideas and worries of terrorism and 9-11 happened the building was looked at as an eyesore. Then after 9-11 people realized that even though it wasnt the prettiest building that they felt a connection to it... I think some New Yorkers even looked at it as if it was theirs... As if someone just wrecked their car, people were upset that terrorist had just ruined their building along with killing MANY MANY innocent people...
