Trifles freezing fruit

| | Comments (0)

“MRS. PETERS (to the other woman). Oh, her fruit; it did freeze. (To the Lawyer). She worried about that when it turned so cold. She said the fire'd go out and her jars would break.” (Glaspell, Trifles)

I found it interesting that the woman was always worried about her fruit freezing and her aprons but her house was messy. These are two almost contradicting elements of the story. She seems like a very tidy person but then her sewing is off and things are just out of sorts. Did she do it or was she forced not to say anything.
