Have you ever been somewhere and saw something amazing and didn't have a camera? I know, I know, you're all asking how in this day and age could you not have some sort of camera with you? Whether it's on your phone, computer, actual camera or whatever, people generally have some form of camera with them at all times now. Anyone that knows me knows that I will pretty much always have my camera with me, just in case, and they're always very appreciative of it after the fact. But there are times when I didn't and I always regretted it.
Well this all got me thinking, what would happen if you witnessed the most amazing sunset, coolest graphitto on a wall? Would you panic and beat yourself up or take a mental picture and move on? This week i'm asking you to describe a time you did not have a camera and wish you did. If you've never experienced this, well lucky you and I pose another question to you then. If you could only capture one picture for your entire life what would it be of? Would you choose your family, your boyfriend/girlfriend, would you go back in time and take a picture of Abraham Lincoln as a child?
For me, I had this experience (sorta) when I was visiting my best friends family for Thanksgiving in Nova Scotia. They live right on the beach of the North Humberland Straight looking at Prince Edward Island. We went there randomly one night real late just for the fun of it, she thought it would be neat for me because, one, I had never been there and 2. I grew up in the urban jungle right outside of downtown Toronto. Well, I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked up there were so many stars there. I was used to seeing stars but nothing like this. There was not only stars but there was the whole mess of junk that goes along with it. I kept commenting about it, which she found amusing because it was so normal to her. I sadly did not have my "good" camera with me that could capture that moment. It still amazes me and that was almost 3 years ago.
Can't wait to hear everyones "lost" pictures.
Until next week,
Kelly

this is kind of abstract, but sometimes I wish that I could capture emotions and feelings, rather than just a great picture. I guess that is what great photographers attempt to do, but most often it still can't perfectly describe whatever emotion they're trying to convey. I wish I could capture the happiness and adrenaline rush of winning the championship game, or the uncontrollable laughter and joy that I feel with my friends. I know that there is no picture out there that could completely do it justice, so my different answer to your question is that I wish I could physically capture emotion!
I love your response. I feel this way all the time too, especially when I get to hang out with my best friends. I look at some pictures and I remember the emotion that was going on in that picture and I love that, but I also get that others who may not have been there do not understand it. You can see that people are happy, but there's just that one thing missing like you said.
