Okay, this blog isn't all about me not getting along with computers. It's more along the line of blowing steam. I hate technology and everything that involves using hi-tech stuff to get tasks accomplished. Sure they bring us great joys of internet usage, but they bring me the pain of learning how to USE it. I know a couple things about this devil of a box, but I am obscure about anything else I don't know.
Okay, so this all sparked yesterday in one of my technology classes. Yes, I was once a girl in high school that took a couple technology classes and had no problems, but those days are long gone. Yes, I have entered the world of college and new technology and I am COMPLETELY lost. A professor of mine has a really weird way of explaining things and does not explain things with a complete idea. He wants things in a certain way, and I do make an effort asking him if this is what he was looking for, and he gives me an answer such as "Do you think it is right?" Great, answer a question with a question. Therefore, I get even more lost and as other people are passing his class with A's, I am left in the dust with a lower grade.
I hate this class (and no, it is not my Writing for the Internet class, so Dr. Jerz don't freak out!) and if I was a quitter I would drop it in a heartbeat. I think the best idea would be to first, observe other students and notice what I am not doing correctly. If after that I am still recieving average grades, I am going to start taking things to the teacher. Lord help me then, because I will either cry or burst out in anger. Hopefully neither of the two, I'd like to think I handle situations better than to spaz out. It will take a great deal of convincing (myself) that I can handle this professionally.
Maybe if I keep muttering the word "professional" in my head, I will succeed in handling this situation maturely. Maybe I should concentrate MORE on the technology side of this class instead of spending all my time with the writing part. Someone gave me that tip yesterday in class. I guess for some reason it's easier for me to bathe in words instead of technology. :(
Computers are horrible to me. Anyone out there with ideas?
HISTORY
It is an honor to present to you the history of the PC. When you think of computers and history, your timeline of the PC may not go all the way back to the year 1911. In fact, when most people think of computers, they think of the 1980s. WRONG!
It was in 1911 when two companies (Computing Scale Company of America and International Time Recording Company) combined to create massive machines to calculate small numbers.
There have been a few inventions after the calculating machine of 1911. The first programmable computer is a prime example. This invention was created in 1941. Konrad Zuse, the inventor of this machine, included more to the machine than just adding or subtracting. His invention could "calculate thousands of instructions in a meaningful order and used memory to store values or numbers."
By the time the 1980s hit, computers began getting smaller and computing more information. Also in the '80s, the term PC (personal computers) became more than just a household name, but became a futuristic part of every household in America and many parts of the world. Apple Macintosh was born in 1984 (hey we're the same age!), and from then on PCs were never looked at the same.
Now, PCs have invaded our homes, schools, work places, and even our cars. We carry tiny pocket devices that have PC capabilities, and have become to depend on our computer-friends. We can communicate through these devices to anyone in the world and still be wearing our pajamas in the safety of our own homes. Technology has never been so hi-tech. It will be a wonder what our future holds and what awesome machines come from our generation.

My week has been hellacious. Not only have I not been able to blog, but I am finding that my personal life is falling behind as well. The only things that I have been concentrating on are my health (recovering from strep throat), my homework (might I add that I'm not accoustomed to doing...ever), and waking up every other day to get to class on time. Those three things have been taking up the majority of my time this week, so I apologize to anyone who was disappointed by the fact that there was one lonesome entry.
I thought today was going to be a drag--going to Honors Convocation, sitting there sweating while everyone else was breathing in any kind of coolness in the room. But (I know i should never use a sentence using a conjunction) I really did learn something. After the ceremony, I stood with my professors and made them laugh--and they made ME laugh. There is a lesson in there somewhere. Maybe the lesson is that having social anxiety sucks, or that I would have missed out on some bonding if I had been very shy.
I am, by nature, a very shy individual. I cling to people who seem shy, and after a while I decide there is no reason to be so bashful. Soon first impressions melt away, and I feel that it is okay to share my characteristics with others. Who knows? I might make a friend or two.
Anyhow, I have a million tasks to complete tonight. Boy, what I would do if I had a clone! Maybe that would be a wonderful idea for tomorrow's blog!!
Hola... LeCrisha here! As most of you are new to this blog thing, as am I. Let me begin by saying how awesomely weird I am, and I apologize for any abnormalities that you may face as you are reading this blog of mine (or if you are in a class with me!). I am a freshman, as you could have guessed, and I am a creative writing major.
All I've been doing these past two weeks is homework. I think it is a big dilema because my attention span is that of a mature and aging 3rd grader. I miss home and there is nothing "home" about "work," so I suppose that I do face some serious issues, ALREADY!
I will say this though, I love all my classes with the exception of one (which will be nameless). There is something that doesn't click in that class, and the teacher seems to be quite unenthusiastic about being there. The teacher reminds me of the "Clear-Eyes" Commercial Guy, who also plays a role in "Faris Bueller's Day Off." All I can hear him saying in my head is, "Bueller...Bueller...Bueller..."
Other than that, I have enjoyed all of my classes! It is getting rather late, and I have loads of things to accomplish before the sun rises tomomorrow. So I hope you all take care! Remember to practice peace and love!
