(I decided that rather than try to understand what everyone reading the american version of this book was saying--i was just going to buy one of my own. $13.73 isn't a horrible price to pay. I also thought I'd get most of my blogging out of the way before the weeekend, as I'll be in Washington D.C. with Seton Hill's trip.)
This chapter was interesting to say the least. It opened up with a story as usual. But it made me think--Investigative Reporting..shouldn't reporters be looking up their facts to get the info right in the first place?
Now, after reading the chapter I understand what it ment. It didn't mean just making sure the facts were correct. It meant making sure that the facts were correct BUT also letting Americans know when their politicians, local or national, are doing something they shouldn't.
That's my type of journalism--now understand, I don't mean "dig up dirt because we've got nothing better to do". I mean finding out where 13,000 dollars goes if its supposed to be there, and then suddenly ends up missing.
I also like the idea of giving a voice to the voiceless--that is the American that is afraid to speak his mind. To me, that's journalism.
