Reflection Papers Sound So Weird in Verse!

O'Connor, "Good Country People" -- Jerz: EL150 (Intro to Literary Study)

I thought that Hallie’s blog was really cool.
She said that Lucynell was just like Joy.
I found it int’resting that she connect-
ed them. The two seem like they’re not the same.

But then I realiz’d how alone they are.
They’re isolated by their mental quirks.
They can’t connect with others ‘cause they do
not speak the same way others do. They can’t.

That’s why they can be taken in by cons.
They aren’t the same as those good country peo-
ple. Not expecting to be duped, they nev-
er see it coming to them. Sad for them!
