In response to Tony's comments on my presentation...
Tony threw out a fun question... "Who would win in a fight, T.Ray or Stanely?"
This takes a humerous spin on things. In both books, as I stated in my presentation, the men had violent tendances, therefore that could be an interesting fight to watch.
First of all, both men were violent towards women, so they didn't exert the most physical strength. Anyway, which man do you think is stronger? When you look at each character seperately, and not comparing them, I think that Stanely is more dependant on others to survive. He stresses that he needs Stella after they fight, he screams her name in the streets. On the other hand, T. Ray is a father and when Lily runs away, he is angered and frustrated. He looks all over for her, but doesn't break down and cry for her, until the end of the book when he calls her "Deborah."
In a fight, I think that T.Ray would probably win, he seems to be a stronger, wiser, more physical man. With the description of his actions, I picture T.Ray to be a larger built man than Stanely, strictly from my own imagination.
With Tony's fun question and comment to my presentation, it helped me develop a more imaginative description of T.Ray and Stanely's appearance.
Wow, thats an interesting question. I dont really think that I have a view point on the matter because from what I can see the reader never actually sees either of the men fight another man, we only see them hit on those who are smaller than them. There is one point where we see Stanley having to be held down by a group of men and I guess that is enough to say the Stanley has alot of manly strength. So if I had to put my money anywhere I guess it would be with Stanley.
