This is something I've long wanted, and finally found. It's hard to describe, but... basically these are audio recordings inside of video arcades, between 1982 and 1988. I figured I'd share this with.. umm.. Jerz, since he was the only one besides myself to waste untold time and money inside arcades in the early 1980's.

I am working now on mixing and burning these to cd, so that I may have a complete environment while running MAME. These recordings are amazing. Kids yelling, talking trash, providing "in-game commentary," coins clunking and button mashing... the ambient quality is superb. I love that you can also hear adjacent games in the background.. such as if you pick "Zaxxon," you can also hear "Berzerk" and "Frogger" being played nearby. I forgot how ear shattering loud games were back then.. I remember a ton of bass, such as in "Tron," and "Asteroids," but geez. Hardcore.
This is the MOTHERLODE of all things amazing, regarding this loooooong looooooost era. I can't wait to have a few complete cds of this.. kill the lights, turn on the blacklights, and turn this up.. I am in vintage bliss. If we had one more big snowstorm, you can bet I would be here, playing these games solid for about 8 hours in the dark, LMAO. As cool as I try to be, I am still an 12 year old dork from 1984.
Enjoy!!!!
Great find! I've blogged it.
