fair paris

I am in Paris, land of the crazy keyboards, i would love to write a bunch but the internet costs too much and the typing is slow: i love this city: i love bread pain; wine vin; cheese frommage; and getting drunk on streets corners and speaking bad but getting better french: i saw jim morrisons grave today: super:

i hate this lack of punctuation but i am lucky to hit the right keys: my french is getting better every day; impressive since i started from scratch: i bet i can say at least 50 words; maybe 100:

the louvre was amazing: better was the discovery of the bridge zhere the local youths hang out to drink wine; smoke cigarettes::: that; mon amie; is exactly the culture i was seeking with this journey

we are living in a youth hostel that costs 15 euros a night:: cheap cheap cheap: we walk until our feet explode then pass out in our bunk beds at night: today we venture to le tour eiffel; to see the eyesore that so distracts the city: it is gaudy and awful at night; i am afraid; not as lovely as i thought it would be

I realize this suggestion isn't very helpful at this point, but I wonder if you had brought along a PDA, then used your expensive itnernet time to upload your pre-written musings? Just a thought, for anyone else who's considering a trip.

You'd need a PDA that writes to a memory card, and a USB card reader. Or a digital camera that reads the same card. Either should work.

Yeah, I remember those crazy keyboards! Perfect for typing a French paper, but good luck typing English! Glad to see you're getting along in France. Eat as much there as you possibly can. The food is awesome (especially the desserts!).

I absolutely recommend cafe liegeois (coffee ice cream with chocolate syrup soaked in esspresso and topped with sweet whipped cream) oh la la! C'est delicieux! Anyway, a bientot, mon amie! (and I appologize for the lack of accents in my French!)

Ahh! I'm insanely...insanely!... jealous... friends, food and wine in a beautiful country...say to the Mona Lisa for me..and save me some of those cigarettes!!!

I'm just jealous that you're even there, Moira! That's really great that you're getting the kind of cultural experience that you'd hoped for. Not a whole lot of people can say that with brief stints to a land they love in picture books and National Geographic.

I wish you would've asked me to tutor you in French!!! I could've had you speaking at the very least fluent "survival" French. I need to practice speaking it more, anyway... But let me know if you ever want to learn :-)
