I started this blog many times before, and several times I've gotten distracted and or error messages have prevented me from posting. So, I will try to get this out quickly so I may flee from class.
Street Car Named Desire
I really disliked the ending of this play. It, to me, was a story of a victim being further victimized by a family member. All be it, Stanely wasn't directly related to Blanche, he, technically, is still family. The fact that he would do what he did to her was completely apalling and made me, in all truthfullness, throw the book across the room.
I believe that Stanley's reaction towards Blanche was Stella's fault and her's alone. The fact that she didn't tell Stanely that Blanche was coming was the first step to ensure that he would dislike her almost immediatly. Another woman, a stranger, in his house without his permission, let along his opinion on the subject questioned. Stella brought Blanche into a very hostile situation that could have been prevented had Stella cared enough for her husband and or sister.
When Blanche first got to Stella's, she asked whether Stanely knew she was there. This shows that Blanche was already apprehensive about being there, let along that he didn't know. It seems that everything Stella did, she did to get Stanely mad at Blanche.
(When I post later, I'll get quotes, but until than, this will be my opinion, but I will elaborate later)
