It Was A Dark And Stormy Night

I have found another treasure, at least for me, in the mystery box that contained the newspaper shown in the previous entry. It might be hard to make out--it's a letter signed by none other than Edward George Bulwer-Lytton on December 29, 1840. I'm pretty sure that literature majors would know who he is but for those who are not familiar with this talented man I have also included a web-site that was founded in his memory. Enjoy.

That's fantastic!

I also like the Little Lytton contest, which acknowledges that Lytton was famous for a single line, not a paragraph.

Nice. I know the Snoopy cartoon they mentioned too. My friends and I used to make up songs from the first lines of books in high school. We used this one several times because it was too good (other favorites we used over include "Call me Ishmael" and "It was the best of times; it was the worst of times").

Nice find! I bet our Writing Popular Fiction students would get a huge kick out of this. FRAME IT!
