Within class today we learnt of a story of a girl called Kaycee Nicole. This was a truely intersting story of a blogger who made up a whole story about her struggles with cancer right up until when she apparently died. This story was complete fiction made up by a blogger who unfortunately went to far with her writing.
She managed to grip the nation with immense sadness, she had thousands of online followers who actually believed that she was suffering from cancer and that her life was to come to an end. She went into explicit detail and described the whole ordeal in an enormous amount of detail that much so that when shye apparently ' died' the online community actually managed to get in contact with her mother about apparent funeral arrangements.
This story managed to drag on a little to far having a lot people genuinely believing that in fact this made up person was actually dead - the consequences were huge - a lot of people were mislead but in my opinion these people wanted to believe this had happened. In my opinion this is an amazing example of how blogging has so much power over people- it truely makes people believe everything that is in front of them, although what this girl done was not entirely justifiable I believe it was a great way of making people realize not take blogging for granted and that not to believe everything written down on a blog is 100% accurate.
