In this blog, I will hopefully be talking about the publishing industry, as I plan on being a writer (though in order to feed myself, I shall endeavor to become a literary agent). I'm learning about the industry as I go, Poets & Writers' magazine is sort of my life line, so if anyone has some feedback/ advice, I'd love to hear it! Along with the factoid posts about the industry, I may be posting some of my own stuff, anything from poetry, essays that I feel I rocked for a class, or even some meaningless thoughts about a class I've had. For instance:
Has anyone read the excerpt "Learning to Read" from Malcolm X's autobiography? I just couldn't get over the fact that the man was so consumed by his anger that he developed this blanketed hatred of all white people and didn't even acknowledge that not all of them were prejudiced. He even admitted to reading "Uncle Tom's Cabin," yet conveniently 'forgot' to acknowledge that the novel was written by a white woman. It was as if he was so focused on the historical relations between whites and blacks, that he payed no attention to what was happening in his lifetime.
What do you think about this?
