Falling in love with ballet

| | Comments (1)

Ok, so it's been awhile since I blogged. As usual, but I really didn't have much readership anyway. Since I'm not forced to blog anymore, I just kind of forget about it considering that I have a million other things to do. But anyways, I want to get to the point of my blog.

I am taking ballet this semester for fun and as part of my artistic expressions class. I love it. It makes me feel taller and more graceful even though I probably look like a klutz when I'm doing it. I have been seriously been thinking about taking it up, at least during the summer and then maybe more later. Tamara told me that you don't have to be 7 to get into danceing, and I think that is awesome. I am even thinking about trying point. I think I am more willing to try new things now than I was in high school. Anyways, I recently found a poem by Emily Dickinson in my american lit book. It's funny how she writes how I feel. I wanted to type it out to share it with everyone that reads this.

This poem doesn't have a title, it's just labled as #326
I cannot dance upon my Toes-
No Man instructed me-
But oftentimes, among my mind,
A Glee possesseth me,

What had I Ballet knowledge-
Would put itself abroad
In Pirouette to blanch a Troupe-
Or lay a Prima, mad,

And though I had no Gown of Gauze-
No Ringlet, to my Hair,
Nor hopped for Audiences-like Birds,
Once Claw upon the Air.

Nor tossed my shape in Eider Balls,
Nor rolled on wheels of snow
Till I was out of sight in sound,
The House encore me so-

Nor any knkow I know the Art
I mention-easy-Here-
Nor any Placard boast-
It's full as Opera-

by: Emily Dickinson

I think that if Emily Dickinson had been around during this time she probably would have had trouble writing poetry. I say this just because she pretty much did whatever she wanted, like for instance an over use of commas and she uses a lot of dashes. I asked Dr. Patterson today why this was done and she said that it was mostly because the writers of this time pretty much were able to experiment and do whatever they wanted especially in a grammatical way. Anyways, I loved this poem. I found another one that I really liked and I might post it later, I think everyone should enjoy it.

October Awareness Month

| | Comments (1)

Hey everyone,
This isn't going to be a long blog I just want everyone to be aware that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I know it might sound dumb it's something important to me, so wear a pink ribbon this month, wear a pink braclet, wear a piece of pink clothing. Help support to find the cure to breast cancer. I looked up so really cool sites that everyone should check out.

Be aware everyone :)
